Background story:
When we bought this house there was a one car garage attached to what I would guess was used as a
bonus room / bar. There was a huge bar with its own jen-air cooking grill and sink behind it.
bonus room / bar. There was a huge bar with its own jen-air cooking grill and sink behind it.
Over the past six years, we ripped out the bar, and made the space into a second living room. We converted half of the garage into a bedroom for my brother when he moved in. When he moved out we ripped down the wall, opened the bedroom into the living room and added a French door to the backyard.
DUN DUN DUN! (Classic sound effect for something spooky)
We are going to merge what's left of the garage into the living space and the transform the room into an open-concept kitchen and living room.
The process got rolling this weekend when we ripped down the garage door and enshrouded the opening.
Tyler needed a little Ramundo (Grandpa)--get started juice....
Here is where she stands until this weekend.
Next up--
Get thing ready for the inspectors visit. We have to take down an illegal wall and remove sheetrock from my brothers old room, since we didn't have a permit when that conversion was done.
I'll try to get some inside photos up, so you can see how big the job is going to be. My guess on the timeline is one year, I haven't asked Tyler his guess, probably 2 months...he gets a bit delusional on how long things take, especially when you have to consider the ole stand and stare factor :-)
Stay posted.
